5/1/2019 0 Comments May 01st, 2019Hello fellow bloggers and readers,
My name is Jenny and welcome to my first blog post. I wanted to give my readers a little background on myself, where I come from, and how I got here. I was born in the great City of Chicago and although I grew up in the suburbs, I like to say, "the city raised me," since I have been residing in the city for the last 14 years of my adult life. Living in Chicago has taught me so many valuable lessons and I have come across so many people from different walks of life, some good and some bad. This city is extremely cut throat and that is something that has definitely rubbed off on me and has motivated me to want a better life for myself and my daughter. I am 33 years young and am a single mother to a beautiful and extremely intelligent 12 year old daughter. Every decision I make, I make it with my daughter in mind. Being a mother has not only made me a better person but it also motivates me to show my daughter how to be a strong, successful, and independent woman. I pretty much have been a single mom since I was pregnant. Once I was about 6 months, I came to the realization I would have to do it alone and 12 years later, here I am still doing a DAMN good job alone! I struggled so much when she was a baby. I lived paycheck to paycheck and was barely making ends meet in my early 20's. I always dated crappy men as well which didn't make things any easier. Once I reached my 30's, it was a turning point in my life. I got out of a bad relationship where I was being emotionally abused and decided to focus on myself. At that point, I turned my first condo into a rental. A year later I decided to do it again and am now a landlord to two tenants and live in my first house that I bought last summer. I also am in my last year of school to obtain my bachelors in Business Administration. The odds were against me, statistics say I'm supposed to be a failure as a single mom, and that my child will likely fail as well because her father is not in her life but I refuse to be another statistic in this world. Everything I say I will do, I do it, and I do it with grace. Please always remember, never let anyone define who you are or who you are "supposed" to be, ONLY YOU can define that for yourself and ONLY YOU are in charge of your life and how it flows. I work in the Public Sector and enjoy what I do for work. Although I enjoy my job, I sometimes feel like something is missing, like I am meant to do more and that I am meant to reach and influence others around me, particularly women. I am a huge advocate for women's empowerment and women's rights. I hold women empowerment nights and plan to increase the number of events as time goes on. This is why I am here, I decided to start a blog to empower women and give advice from things I have been through, things I have learned, and things I believe will make a difference in our crazy world. I am an extremely humble woman but I also know everything I bring to the table. My ideas and thoughts set me apart from most. I believe in being different and thinking outside of the box. I believe in thinking big, being positive, and helping others. I will always tell the truth, if you are one of those people who like things to be sugar coated, this blog may not be for you. I am brutally honest to a fault. In my future blogs, I plan to talk about dating, relationships, money, business, family, and topics related to women, and women's empowerment. I really hope that even if this only reaches one person, that I have made a difference in that persons life and it will all have been worth it. Thank you for joining me on this adventure, Jennifer
